The Adventures of Captain Can-it, Episode III finally released
Well, it’s been a loooooooong time coming. I finished this cartoon ages ago and the Clark County Water District, here in Las Vegas, finally put it live.
This is the second to the last cartoon in the series and features the villain “Grease” who is part of the evil F.O.G.G. organization who seeks to clog every drain for some unknown reason. I mean really, what’s the deal with these super-villains anyway?
This is bar far the longest, most detailed and funnest cartoon in the series in my opinion. It features the revelation of two new characters on the Captain Can-it team:
Miguel E. Gente (supposed to sound like ‘intelligente’ which means ‘intelligent’ in Spanish) and Detective R.U. F.O.G.G. (I’m sure you can figure that out. Miguel is kind of a cross between Bruce Wanye and Q from James Bond. He partners with his robotic friend Detective R.U. F.O.G.G. who scour the sewers looking for signs of Fat, Oil, Grease or Grit. He is also the one who summons Captain Can-it, interrupting him from various meals or activities to battle F.O.G.G.
If you look carefully on the little pager device that Miguel uses to summon Captain Can-it, you will see the entire team including a character that has not yet been introduced: Jason De Clogg (Chasing the clog). He’s supposed to be a high-tech recon agent for Captain Can-it who was supposed to appear in the “Free From Debris” episode that may or may not ever be created at this point. The other thing that cracked me up about the pager, is that the old man that Captain Can-it always steals a newspaper from is also on the pager. He’s on the ‘team’ but apparently never got the memo, or forgot or something.
So the Water District had some great ideas of new cartoon that were supposed to be created but for unknown reason probably will not be. Some of these characters and ideas would have been fantastic to see. Since they may not ever see the light of day, I’ll post some pictures of the characters below and you can just use your imagination as to what the episode would have been about.

Jason De Clogg would have been a pretty cool character to animate, but alas, this article may be all the hype he'll ever get.

This guy was going to be the foreman of a construction site on the Free From Debris episode

This little guy was probably going to be my favorite character. He was this little dam-building beaver with a Napoleon complex I created for the Water District. He would clog the drains by building dams with construction debris. Maybe someday we can do something with him.

This character is Rex D. Waters (wrecks the waters) and as you can tell, he's connected with sickness and to bring awareness to people flushing pharmacological products down the drain. I liked the sickly look of him and the fact that he has these scrubs on and a utility belt made up of prescription bottles, that cracked me up. I mostly liked the concept sketch and thought it looked cool.
The next and probably FINAL episode: Grit Grinds to a Halt preview.
So I am currently in production of the final episode that will feature the Joe Sixpack family of episode 2 again. They’ve learned about and defeated Oil, but they are being targeted again, this time through their toddler, Janie Sixpack who is now a rambunctious 2 year old with a toy shopping cart full of Grit who loves to flush stuff down the toilet. I thought the script was very creative and this next cartoon should be a great ending to the series. Here are a few shots:

A couple of Gritt facial expressions. He's just going to be a big, dumb oaf who has put the toddler in a flushable Fogg.

Full-body render of Grit

Facial expressions for Janie Sixpack who will be voiced by my 2 year old daughter, it's going to be hilarious.

The old and new Janie Sixpack

This is going to be Janie going back and forth from the kitchen to the bathroom with gritty supplies.

The long trail to the bathroom from the perspective of a 2 year old

Grit sitting in the bathroom overseeing the toilet clogging
So anyway, I may post more screenshots in the future as progress on the cartoon continues.
