American Heritage Academy website goes live

AHAAlrighty, it’s been accessible for a few weeks but I think we’re at a point to where we can officially announce that www.ahalv.org is live and working. The final result came out really well and I have to give props to Laurel Beckstead and Kurt Gentry and many others who worked extremely hard in getting all of the content and catching the vision for this project.

The final site features many cool features and numerous details that add to the richness of the experience. American Heritage Academy is a small school here in Las Vegas that needed a better online experience to be reflective of the high standards of the school.

The previous site did not accomplish their desires of really getting the vision of the school across, and it was barely functional. So we decided to target the different types of families that are most likely to prefer a school like American Heritage Academy. We came up with four personas and targeted the large focus area on the home page to each of those personas. Ever other part of the site is strategically designed to create interest and desire in what they offer and get people to contact the school.

Here are a few screenshots of the main features of the site:

This is the homepage focus area with it’s four options targeted to specific personas.

Each main section of the site features a detailed subsection highlighting all of the subpages it contains.

Joomla has a nice calendar component that works well on the site although it’s a huge pain in the rear to customize ;)

In conjunction with the site all of their documentation was redesigned and updated to match the new branding and gives a very powerful and impressive impression of the school.

The student life section is a big part of the site since it’s where all of the action of the school is located. There are news articles, links to recent calendar events, the photo gallery and a bio of the week section that features short biographical information of historical figures pertinent to American History.

There are several great photographers at the school and this photo gallery section gives them a great place to post the photos from the many events and activities at the school.

All in all, this was a great project. Much care was taken on every little detail and we hope that it shows in the final result. We look forward to seeing how the school uses the site and the impact it has on their growth moving forward.
